Do Not Do Things You Cannot Take Back

Pause before crossing irreversible lines.

Some actions cannot be fully undone. Before escalating, publishing, relapsing, betraying, destroying, or disappearing, pause long enough to remember that consequences can outlive the emotion that created them.

Supporting Systems

Stoicism Impulse and Assent Impulse should be examined before action.
Buddhism Right Action Right action avoids harm that cannot easily be repaired.
Christianity Count the Cost Wise action considers consequences before commitment.
Recovery Relapse Prevention One moment of relapse or rage can create lasting consequences.
